Brett’s First Responders

Brett’s First Responders aims to provide support to families of fallen off-duty first responders and families enduring significant financial hardships due to a tragic circumstance of an off-duty first responder.

How it Started

Bretts First Responders was created in honor of Swansea, IL firefighter, Brett Korves. Brett was killed in April 2019 when an individual evading police hit his car at a high rate of speed.
Brett was only 30 years old. He left behind his wife, Alex, 18 month old son, Brock, and an unborn daughter who was named Brett Grace after her father.
Brett’s family received an unbelievable amount of support from family and friend in their community. However, because Brett was killed outside the line of duty, there was not an organization that could help.
Realizing the need for families like Brett’s, we decided to start this organization to make sure all families of first responders have support during times of tragedy and financial hardship.
